Berlin is a historic city, an urban metropolis, and one of Europe’s cultural centres. This is why it deserves to be explored to its fullest, going past the more common attractions, right through to the real cultural, artistic, and authentic heart of the city. For this task there’s only one company for the job: Berlinsidestories. Set up by vibrant Berliner, Emiko Morgaine, Berlinsidestories has fast developed a reputation for being one of the leading enterprises for a more immersive Berlin experience.

Berlinsidestories originated from Emiko’s love of the city, educational background, and experience working as an artist and performer in the city’s nightlife and art scene. All this has ultimately lead to a passion for wanting to share Berlin from a different perspective. The tours are, in essence, personalised cultural tours showcasing Berlins colourful urban life.

They usually last between 2 and 3 hours and have a limit of six people to ensure a more pleasant and communal setting. Expect to learn about Berlin’s history, walk around neighbourhoods, experience the contemporary culture, marvel at the art, shop at the boutiques, and for a day become a Berliner.

Tours can be separated in to three interrelated categories: Art, Culture, and Social. With the art tours, there are three to choose from, the East-Side-Story, West-Side-Story, and Subculture and Art Tour. Of course, East Berlin holds a stellar reputation for the arts, but the West is something of a hidden gem. The one to choose is up to you.

While the art tours incorporate a cultural element, there are four tours dedicated specifically to the culture of Berlin. The Golden 20’s, Kneipen, and Everything But Techno tours are all wonderful nightlife experiences. Alternatively, you can select the Club Culture Tour and learn all the political, social, and historical significance of the famous Berlin club scene.

If this wasn’t enough there are two political tours on offer. The first is a hard-hitting Refugees in Berlin tour that focuses on the positive impact and reality of life as refugees in Berlin. The second is a Berlin and Sustainabilitytour, a platform highlighting the importance of sustainability, environmental ethics, responsible consumption, and upcycling, and how this is shaping the city for the future.
